Graffiti is an intriguing art due to the free style and spontaneity of it but also due to the polarizing
views and laws. So why is such a rebellious art form still alive? Why do people partake especially in a
place where it remains illegal. ​

In this clip of Bridging the Gap episode 22, Byska shares why he continues to be a graffiti artist despite
the legal issues. He uses the example of Banksy and says it is easier to ask for forgiveness than
permission. ​

Graffiti is not legal in the country and therefore to earn money form it almost seems impossible, it feels more like a hobby than a career. However, there are artists who have found a way to make money. ​

In this clip of Bridging the Gap episode 22, Byska explains the different ways that people can make money through graffiti, some of which he applies as well. Graffiti according to him can open up many sources of income simply due to the skill one develops. ​

Since graffiti is a free form art that is visible to all, there is a set of rules established between artists to ensure that the art form flourishes without harming anyone.​

In this clip of Bridging the Gap episode 22, Byska explains that the community has decided not to paint on religious walls and abandoned walls near schools in order to avoid disturbing the space and the people that frequent it.​

Graffiti in its current form does not have any Indian influences, this raises the questions of whether our artists are being original and Indian. However, that is not the reality for certain artists who are thinking outside of the box and Indianizing the art of graffiti for a larger Indian audience.

In this clip of Bridging the Gap episode 22, Byska explains that while currently most of the influences for graffiti are borrowed from the west, artists are actively trying to make it for and by Indians, as can be seen on trucks and under flyovers and highways.
