This dramatic 442-foot waterfall is easy to view thanks to a paved 0.4-mile loop trail that weaves through a dreamy rainforest filled with ferns, wild orchids, and bamboo groves.

It's one of the Big Island’s best easy hikes and one of my favorite things to do. 💦

Did you know lacrosse is a Native American sport? 🥍

Lacrosse is one of the oldest team sports in North America, with documented roots dating back to the early 17th century. Historically, games could bring together hundreds of players from opposing villages or tribes and served many purposes, from settling disputes and preparing young warriors for combat to recreation, festivals, and religious ceremonies.

This Labor Day, Monday, September 7, join from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm to learn more about the history and legends behind the game. Plus, try your hand at playing lacrosse!

Waimea is paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) country, and from September 14 to 19 it will celebrate with Paniolo Festival Week. The festival week culminates with the Paniolo Parade on Saturday, 9/19 at 10 a.m., which starts at Waimea Park and goes to Kalani Schutte District Park, where there will be a Hoo’olaule’a (celebration) from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the week, there’s Bingo After Dark, a Stampede Line Dance, a Falsetto and Storytelling Content, a Paniolo Cook-out, and more. 🌴 The Villages at Mauna Lani is one of the most sought-after communities on the Kohala Coast — and it’s easy to understand why.
