☕ The People’s Choice Cup is BACK! ☕
One of the most beloved moments from last year’s conference is returning!

Throughout the 2026 HCA Conference, we will be spotlighting exceptional coffees from across the Hawaiian Islands during our daily coffee breaks, brewed with filtered water and professional café equipment to bring out their very best.

Each of the four daily breaks will feature a head-to-head pairing of community-submitted coffees. Attendees sample throughout the day, cast one vote for their favorite, and the most-voted coffee takes home the People’s Choice Cup, presented on Friday just before the Best of Hawai’i announcements.

The best part? Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the entry fee is completely waived. It’s free to enter!

To enter, register online first, then ship or deliver 4 lbs of non-flavored roasted coffee to:
Maui Oma Coffee Roasting
296 Alamaha St. Unit J
Kahului, Maui, HI 96732

Registration and coffee must be received by 3:00 PM HST on Friday, July 17, 2026. Spots are filled on a first-registered basis so don’t wait!

Register at the link in our bio. Questions? Contact Maria McMillan at 808-336-1872 or [email protected]

Some people leave an industry better than they found it. David Gridley was one of those people.

David was a true champion of Hawai'i coffee and a dedicated leader within both the Hawai'i Coffee Association and the Maui Coffee Association, serving as a Founding Member and Board Director. He was instrumental in establishing the annual Hawai'i Coffee Cupping Competition, which continues to showcase and elevate quality coffee from farms across our islands.

For 32 years in the specialty coffee industry, David consistently advocated for higher quality standards and worked tirelessly to strengthen and unite Hawai'i's coffee community. In 1998 he founded Maui Oma Coffee Roasting Company, which he operated for 20 years, always rooting his work in care for his customers, his employees, and his community.

A celebration of his remarkable life will be held this Sunday, June 7, 2026 at The Maui Arts and Cultural Center at 2:00 pm, what would have been his 77th birthday.

To share a memory with his family, please email [email protected].

Mahalo piha, David. Your legacy lives on in every cup. 🤍☕
