Camp Workcoeman is located in the hills of northwest Connecticut in scenic New Hartford. The camp consists of approximately 427 acres on the shore of beautiful West Hill Pond, possibly the cleanest lake in Connecticut. Established in 1924, it is one of the oldest continuously operated Scout camps in the country. For over 90 years, thousands of Scouts and leaders have had unforgettable Scouting exp

eriences at Camp Workcoeman. Camp Workcoeman is used year-round for short-term camping for all Scouting Cub Packs, Scout Troops, and Venture Crews, as well as district and Order of the Arrow activities. During the six week summer camp season, over 1200 Scouts enjoy unforgettable Scouting experiences. The summer camp season consists of 6 weeks of Boy Scout Resident Adventure Camp as well as Cub Scout Day Camp. It is also home to Laurel Music Camp. SUMMER RANGE ACTIVITIES AT CAMP WORKCOEMAN!

Looking for an exciting way for Scouts to develop confidence, discipline, and outdoor skills this summer? Camp Workcoeman's Range and Target Program offers safe, supervised, and fun opportunities for Scouts of all experience levels!

This summer, Scouts can participate in:
- Rifle Shooting Merit Badge
- Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge
- Archery Merit Badge
- Our popular Pistol Shooting Program (offered certain Wednesdays throughout the summer)

Safety is our top priority. All activities are conducted under the supervision of trained and certified instructors, with strict adherence to BSA and NRA safety standards. Scouts will learn proper firearm and archery handling, range safety, responsibility, and sportsmanship while building skills they'll remember for a lifetime.

Earn Your Fly Fishing Merit Badge This Summer!

Ready to learn the art of fly fishing and complete your Fly Fishing Merit Badge? Join us for one of four one-day sessions this summer!

Session #1:July 1st
Session #2: July 8th
Session #3: July 15th
Session #4: Aug 5th

8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Cost: $50 per Scout

Participants will learn essential fly fishing skills, casting techniques, equipment selection, knot tying, conservation principles, and complete the requirements for the Fly Fishing Merit Badge with experienced instructors.

Spend the day outdoors, improve your fishing skills, and earn a unique merit badge while having fun on the water!

Space is limited to six scouts for each session.

This past weekend, 36 participants successfully completed our Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course and earned their Wilderness First Aid certification!

Over the course of the weekend, participants developed essential skills for responding to medical emergencies in remote and outdoor settings, including patient assessment, injury management, environmental emergencies, and evacuation decision-making.

We are incredibly proud of this dedicated group for their hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to outdoor safety. Their new knowledge and skills will help make camps, outdoor programs, and wilderness adventures safer for everyone.
