Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds

09/03/2026

On August 15th, we officially installed Dan Ferguson as our Executive Director. In doing so, we also honored our incredible Executive Committee of Wayne Spriggs, Mike Dethlefsen, and Hans Henneberque for their many months of service in the role of interim Executives. We invited members of our wider community to celebrate this transition and to give encouragement and support to Dan and his wife Ann Mary as they began this journey. Dan brings 30 years of ministry and leadership experience to this role and has in his time at Alliance Redwoods already made sweeping improvements to staff culture and connectivity. We look forward to Dan leading us into the future of Alliance Redwoods as we begin to wrap up celebrations of our 80th year and consider what’s Next for this beautiful camp in the trees.

Supervisor Hopkins toured the largest behind the meter battery and solar project in the County this morning at Alliance Redwoods. The project will store 4 megawatt hours of energy from a 500kw solar array. The project not only produces far more electricity than the camp can use, but in power outages can provide power to the Russian River Utility’s pumping systems providing water to Camp Meeker and Occidental and has the potential to be a regional micro grid during disasters. ⚡️

So grateful for our firefighters and first responders tackling the Woodside Fire. We are sending prayers for everyone that has been affected and has been working overnight on the flames.

We are well out of the way of threat and crews are working hard to fully contain this blaze. We look forward to the first weekend of August with all of our guests.

Dan Ferguson is our NEXT Executive Director!

From our Board of Trustees Chair, Wayne Spriggs:

“Today, we are writing to share with you great news. On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am delighted to announce that Dan Ferguson has been appointed the next Executive Director of Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds effective May 18, 2026.

Many of you have been privileged to know Dan in his role as ARCG’s Chief Operating Officer. Dan’s experience made him extremely suitable to serve as the Executive Director. During the recent appointment process one of the Trustees wrote: “Dan has strong references, the confidence of major donors, the recommendation of the executive committee, references from his current employees, and his work experience.” This comment nicely sums up how the directors and Board of Trustees feel about Dan as our next Executive Director.

It is also important to underscore that it was unanimous among the Board of Trustees members that Dan Ferguson was God’s appointee for the next Executive Director. This was also confirmed by the District Executive Committee of the Central Pacific District.”

Join us in congratulating Dan and celebrating this NEXT era of Alliance Redwoods leadership!

For 80 years, campers have carried their sleeping bags and pillows across the bridge, bags backed with bug spray, sunscreen, flashlights, and flip flops.

For 80 years, voices have rung out over the haze of campfire smoke, hands have been sticky with charred marshmallows, and giggles have carried from bunks as chaperones turn off the lights.

For 80 years, weary adults have stepped into the woods and taken a deep breath, reveling in the crisp flavor of a forest glade and the relief of standing here, rather than in their offices and boardrooms.

Here at Alliance Redwoods our vision statement is simple: We do camp, because at camp lives are changed. We are gearing up to celebrate 80 years of doing camp, and this we invite you to give to the next 80 years of this life changing place.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and join us for celebrations in 2026!
