Seeing a moose can be a highlight of your visit but let’s keep both wildlife and travelers safe this season!
•Moose are most active at dawn and dusk.
• Their dark coloring makes them especially difficult to see on roads at night.
• Moose can run up to 35 mph and are surprisingly quick.
• Maine is home to one of the largest moose populations in the Lower 48.
If you’re driving in the Rangeley region:
•Slow down, especially at dawn and dusk.
•Scan both sides of the road.
•Stay alert and avoid distractions behind the wheel.

🌲 Moose sightings are becoming a regular thing around Rangeley Lake Resort lately! 🌲

One of our guests spotted three moose the other day, and we happened to see three ourselves last night too! We were lucky enough to capture a couple photos to share with everyone.

They may look a little muddy and rough around the edges this time of year, but that’s just part of early spring in Maine. Seeing these incredible animals in their natural habitat is always such a special experience.

You never know what wildlife adventure might be waiting during your stay in Rangeley

A very popular activity in the Rangeley region is bird-watching and we've certainly had a lot of fun with this over the years. "Welllll, who are YOUUUU.....???" is a common comment of mine this time of year with all the migrating birds coming through. Our friends at the Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust are hosting their annual Rangeley Birding Festival June 4 - 7 this year. It's a great opportunity to get out with a group, a leader, be shown all the hot spots in the region, and gain a wealth of information about this exciting activity. We've been very fortunate to see and photograph a variety of birds over the years. Here's a few ours if you'd like to take a look. What you really oughtta do is get here and enjoy them yourself! The Birding Festival would be a great time to do it!
