🥾 Morning Hike & Lodge Lunch – Explore the reserve on foot before enjoying lunch at our Luxury Lodge.

🌅 Sunset Drive & Bush Braai – Take in the Lowveld sunset views from a scenic viewpoint before gathering around the fire for a traditional bush braai.

🌱 Workshops & High Tea – Choose between Everyday Wellness or Garden Apothecary, followed by high tea in our permaculture garden.

🏃‍♀️ Trail runners, this one’s for you! 🪶

Next Saturday, 7 November, Lowveld Trail Running brings the Cape Vulture Trail to Cape Vulture Nature Reserve. Expect bushveld paths, reserve views and a proper Lowveld sunrise start.

Pick your distance:
🟢 Short, 5km: starts 7:15am
🟡 Medium, 10km: starts 7:00am
🟠 Long, 20km: starts 6:45am
🔴 Mountain, 30km: starts 6:30am

❗Update on the CVNR Braai & Smoke Master Competition 🔥

The Braai & Smoke Master Competition planned for Saturday, 31 October will not be going ahead. We did not reach the minimum number of team registrations needed to run the day, so we’ve made the call to cancel.

Thank you to everyone’s enthusiasm and those who shared the post. The braai & smoke masters will have their day next year!

🌿 Saturday @ CVNR: this heritage weekend, spend the day in the bush 🌿

🗓 26 September 2026

We know a lot of you are away for the long weekend, but if you're sticking around, we've got a full day planned for you.

🥾 Start with our Bush Walk (8:30–10:30):
A ±7km loop through the reserve, moderate fitness needed, kids welcome.

🔥 Stay for Smokey Saturdays (10:30–17:00):
We're firing up the smoker for Texan BBQ-style meats, with the Bush Bar open and a play area to keep the kids busy. Free entry.

🏡 CVNR Open House (11:30–12:30):
This month we're adding something new, a walkthrough of the Eco-Village, Skills Exchange Programme, Permaculture Garden and Education Centre, for anyone wanting to learn more about what we do here and how to get involved!

Come for one part or stay for the whole day.

Cape Vulture Nature Reserve was recently featured on GROOTplaas, offering a glimpse into the work and thinking behind the reserve.

The conversation explored what it means to build a truly sustainable model, not just in how we protect the land and wildlife, but in how we live, work and integrate into the community.

One idea that has become central to our approach:

The reserve is a living classroom. We don’t have all the answers. We’re learning as we go, and when we learn something, we are eager to share it.

Whether it’s permaculture, waste management or environmental education, there are always opportunities for our team to share their knowledge and learn from the community.
