At Chundukwa River Lodge we enjoy ‘the best of both worlds’. We live on a horse ranch situated just 25kms from Victoria Falls - close enough for our guests to experience all that our beautiful destination has to

offer - yet far enough to offer a sanctuary. This is a place where you really can you “feel” where you are. A place you may feel completely content in doing nothing at all – but with the option to do a lot if you want. We are dedicated to three activities: the hosting of guests; working hand-in-hand with our community to promote sustainable living practices; and the running of our stables & horse safari operations at home and in the Simalaha Conservancy. The spirit that courses through the veins of our operation is one of kindness, on the back of our conviction that “people who are valued, provide valuable hospitality.”

A pinch and a punch for first of the month!

Hello June! Here, the Zambezi slows its pace, the air turns crisp and clear and Victoria Falls reveals a different kind of magic. The dry season has arrived, bringing sunny days, cool mornings, spectacular visibility and some of the best conditions of the year for exploring the Falls and the surrounding wilderness.

June also marks the return of adventure season. White-water rafting has reopened as water levels become safer and more manageable, while sunset cruises on the Zambezi are simply unforgettable under clear winter skies. Wildlife viewing continues to improve as vegetation thins and animals gather closer to permanent water sources.

Today, at Chundukwa River Lodge, we celebrate more than a date on the calendar — we celebrate the soul of Africa!

Africa Freedom Day is a reminder of the strength, beauty, and unity woven through this extraordinary continent. Here on the banks of the Zambezi, surrounded by wild spaces and ancient traditions, we are reminded every day how deeply connected we are to Africa’s spirit.

From sunrise over the river to the laughter of children in the village, from Lozi fishermen gliding silently through the channels to elephants wandering the bush nearby — this land carries stories of freedom, resilience and belonging.

We are proud to call Zambia home, and grateful to share this special corner of Africa with guests from around the world. 🇿🇲
