Even the locals need a coffee break sometimes!

This little kingfisher had an unexpected encounter with one of our cottage windows today and decided the braai plate offered the perfect recovery spot.

With front-row seats to the river, it spent a few minutes regaining its composure before taking off once more, ready to continue its hunt for fish.

Fortunately, all ended well, and our feathered visitor was soon back where it belongs, skimming the water and brightening the Zambezi.
