Ila Safari Lodge                                                                                                                                       Our flagship. A place that has carried the Green Safaris story through every season.

Through challenge, through change, and through renewal, it has continued to stand with quiet strength, welcoming guests back to the heart of Kafue time and time again.

Have you stayed here? Shared stories around the boma, watched the river shift through the day, or settled into the calm woven into every corner of the lodge?

We’d love to hear your Ila memories.

June feels different.

Like the beginning of a celebration.

There’s a quiet excitement in the air. A story we’ve been carrying for years, slowly taking shape behind the scenes.

Something close to our hearts. Something that speaks to where we started, what we’ve built, and the journey that brought us here.

This month, we finally get to share it with you.

Stay close.

Now that the season is in full swing, we take a moment to look behind the scenes.

Before the first guests arrive, there’s preparation. Time spent refining, learning, and building skills across our teams.

The chef’s training led by guest Chef Dennis from the Netherlands gave us a chance to sharpen techniques, share ideas, and grow together in the kitchen.

Here’s a glimpse into that process, along with a few words from Chef Dennis on his time with the team.

It’s the way the light moves through.

Open chalets at Sindabezi welcome in the breeze, letting the river, air and soft sunlight shape the space around you.

Fresh, easy, and quietly comfortable.

An ambience you feel all through your stay.

How special it is to share space with giants like these.

At Ila Safari Lodge, the hippos are your resident neighbours, gently serenading you as the sun sets.

Calm and completely at ease, a quiet reminder of where you are.

And while they spend most of their days in the water, coming out to graze mostly at night, moments like this feel all the more special.

Same destination. Completely different feel.

Sausage Tree Camp and Potato Bush Camp sit in the same corner of the Lower Zambezi, yet each offers its own distinct atmosphere.

From your room to your favourite sundowner spot, even the quiet corners made for reading, every space is shaped with its own character.

Stay at one, or experience both. Either way, you’ll find the same sense of calm, privacy, and a chance to fully reset.

A bush escape, done your way.

Africa, a continent alive with movement, story, and spirit.

Herds moving across the plains, drums beating to the wake of dawn, the distant roar of lions, fires crackling beneath open skies, and communities carrying traditions forward through generations.

This is Africa. Proud, resilient, and deeply connected to the people who call it home.

Today, we celebrate its freedom, its beauty, and the privilege of experiencing it so closely.

Happy Africa Freedom Day from all of us at Green Safaris.

They say raise a child in the way they should grow.

Sometimes, that simply means supporting what they love.

On Likoma Island, through the Green Safaris Conservation Foundation, we support young talent by sponsoring local football teams, providing kits and a sense of pride on and off the field, with Martin, one of our longest serving team members heading this initiative.

It’s a small step, but one that helps turn passion into possibility.

Myth or fact: baby elephants use their trunks perfectly from birth.

Myth.

For the first few months, a calf’s trunk is more of a puzzle than a tool. You’ll see them swinging it, tripping over it, even stepping on it while they try to figure things out.

It takes time to learn how to drink, feed, and use it with the same ease as the rest of the herd.

Clumsy at first. Then completely in control.

Have you ever watched a young elephant learning the ropes?

Mbungo at Kaya Mawa.

Some spaces make it easy to settle in. This is one of them.

Soft tones, natural textures, and an atmosphere that feels calm from the moment you arrive. There’s room to move, space to breathe, and time to simply be.

Step outside, take in the air, and let the day unfold at its own pace.
