Your days at Kaya Mawa

Slow. Sun-soaked. Entirely your own.

Wake gently beneath billowing linen, with the shimmer of Lake Malawi just beyond your door. Wander barefoot to the water’s edge. Find a quiet corner to linger in, and watch the afternoon soften into gold.

Swim when the lake calls. Explore when curiosity stirs. Or simply stay exactly where you are, with nowhere else to be.There is no need to rush. Whatever can wait, will.

It is Kaya Mawa, after all, maybe tomorrow.

More than a name, it is the rhythm of life here: warm, wild and wonderfully unhurried.

In the early morning mist, wildlife stirs on the small islands scattered across the floodplains. Predators emerge to hunt, silhouettes of a red lechwe hunt move through the golden lit trees as the sun rises quickly over the horizon.

By September, the landscape is drier and every encounter feels more vivid, a distant movement, a hidden hunter, a clue left behind in the sand.

Busanga rarely reveals the whole story at once. It invites you to look a little closer.

Warm smiles. Lively welcomes. And the kind of hospitality that makes a place feel familiar from the very beginning.

Meet Emmanuel, one of our valets at Tongabezi Lodge.

For him, hospitality is deeply personal. Asked what he loves most about caring for our guests, his answer is beautifully simple:

“Seeing a happy guest and hearing that they’ve enjoyed their stay makes me happy.”

And perhaps that’s the real heart of every memorable journey, the people behind it.

People like Emmanuel, who remember the little things, share a genuine smile, and make sure you leave with more than beautiful photographs.

Because at the heart of every Green Safaris experience are our people. And they have a wonderful way of making you feel at home, even when you’re far from it.

A young person’s journey shouldn’t end when school does.

Our partnership with Project Luangwa and the Luangwa Conservation and Community Fund ensures we help young people in the Luangwa Valley prepare for the next stage of their lives.

Project Luangwa’s Foundation Programme works with school leavers to bridge the gap between secondary education and further study, training or employment. Students develop practical skills, confidence, computer literacy and a better understanding of the opportunities available to them.

For a tourism destination like South Luangwa to thrive in the long term, young people from the surrounding communities need opportunities to participate in that future and our contribution through LCCF makes us proud to play a small part in helping Project Luangwa turn education into opportunity.

Why you shouldn’t visit a secluded island in the middle of the Zambezi.

There are no crowds. No rushing. No reason to wear shoes.

You may accidentally spend the day listening to the river, sighting elephants that cross the Zambezi River, eating beautifully, and being looked after far too well.

Worse still, Sindabezi has a habit of staying in your heart long after you leave. So you don’t just leave, the memories come with you.

Honestly, it sounds terribly convenient and that’s why you should pack your bags and head over.

No two corners of Southern Africa tell the same story.

The vast open plains of Kafue. The winding channels of the Lower Zambezi. The walking trails of South Luangwa. The mighty Victoria Falls. The tranquil shores of Lake Malawi.

Each destination offers its own rhythm, its own wildlife, and its own way of slowing you down.

And we are proud, to call these places home.

Sometimes, the people who create the safari magic deserve to experience a little of it themselves.

, one of our guides, was gifted a stay at Chisa Busanga Camp with his daughter for a chance to swap guiding for simply being guests and enjoying the Busanga Plains.

They watched a serval completely focused on its hunt, spotted alarmed puku keeping a careful eye on their surroundings, caught up with the lions of Busanga, from the growing cubs to the pride and a lot more.

For someone who spends his days creating memorable experiences for our guests, this time the memories were Abi’s to make.

A special safari and a very good week to be in the Busanga plains.

Being a valet is about so much more than training.

It’s the warm welcome after a day out on activities.  Remembering how you take your coffee. Knowing your favourite seat at dinner before you even ask.

It’s the little details that quietly turn a stay into something deeply personal.

Aggrey, one of the valets at Tongabezi shares his favourite part of creating unforgettable guest experiences and in his own words, “I am happy when a guest leaves with heartfelt gratitude for how I handled them because it is a memory that will always be with them”.

This kind of hospitality is always felt, never forced.

Introducing our newest nest on the Busanga Plains.

This time, our weaver built a little bigger, creating a nest with more space, more comfort and even more room to soak in the beauty of the Busanga Plains

Thoughtfully designed, deeply soulful and rooted in place, this newest nest is not simply somewhere to stay.

It is somewhere you feel completely tucked in.

Eco truly is Luxury.
