Stoked to be named PUB OF THE DAY by The Local🏆✨
We love being a part of Childers' rich history, standing proud on the corner of Churchill Street for well over a century. A huge shoutout to our incredible community and everyone who walks through our doors to keep the spirit of the Feddy alive.
Drop in this weekend, grab a cold one, and enjoy a bit of history on the verandah! 🍻
PUB OF THE DAY: The Federal Hotel Childers Qld
The Federal Hotel was built when Childers was rebuilding itself.
After a devastating fire tore through the town centre in 1902, the old sugar town came back bigger, grander and more confident than before. A few years later, the Federal rose on the corner of Churchill Street.
More than 100 years on, it still feels like one of those pubs that anchors the whole street. Wide timber verandahs. High ceilings. Old Queensland pub architecture from the era when Childers was booming with canecutters, seasonal workers and travellers moving through the Isis district.
Back then, horses were tied up outside and the pub even had its own eight-stall stable out the back.
A lot of country pubs lose pieces of themselves over time.
The Federal somehow still feels remarkably intact.
