Not at the cottage today, but when I make lunches like this, it takes me right back to the old-fashioned days… and memories. 💛

I can still remember my mom making these when I was a kid, using her homemade bread. That smell alone could bring you straight to the table.

This was such a treat for us , real homemade fried pancakes , not pancakes from a box. The kind made from leftover homemade bread, just like years ago. (Today most call them toutons.)

I know some people love theirs with syrup, and some swear by molasses…
But me, I like mine simple.

On a plate, a sprinkle of sugar, a hot cup of tea right there on the plate, and that’s it.
No fork. No knife.
Just tear it apart with your fingers and dip away.

Fried in pork scrunchions… and absolutely delicious. 🤍

The best kind of food isn’t fancy , it’s the kind that brings you home

It was a beautiful crisp winter day at Embree Cottage. Just look at that sun, absolutely gorgeous. The patio is freshly shovelled and the BBQ is ready to go year-round, even in the heart of winter. The fire pit is set, the benches are peeking out from the snow, and the birdhouse is just glistening in the snow.

It’s a great time of year for a mini vacation, run away for a weekend by yourself or with a friend. It’s always nice to have a little “me day.” PM me for available dates, and pricing and we’re also available through Airbnb for your convenience.

As last year comes to an end and we step into a brand new one, we just want to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.

To every guest who walked through our doors , you truly made our year. The kindness you showed us, the beautiful notes left in our guest book, the 5-star reviews, the thoughtful surprise gifts, and even the ornaments you left for our Christmas tree… it all meant more than we could ever put into words.

What touched us most wasn’t just the support , it was the heart behind it. The encouraging messages, the respect you showed our little space, the way so many of you treated Embree Cottage like it was your own home… that kind of kindness stays with us. It reminded us that there are still so many wonderful people out there, and we feel incredibly lucky that you chose to spend your time with us.

You didn’t just stay at Embree Cottage , you became part of it.
You helped create a year filled with comfort, warmth, laughter, and memories we’ll cherish for a long time. Every signature in the book, every kind word, every return visit, every little gesture… it all added up to something truly special.
