A little history
Before the town of Alma was established, it was known as the 12 Mile Bluff. The settlers named it for it's terrain and landmarks which helped with navigation in the 1800's. The name changed after the battle on Alma river that took place on September 20, 1854. It was a fight between the English & French against the Russians. Alma, Wisconsin officially became a village in 1868.
