Originally built as Rockefeller's Great Camp, The Point Resort is the first Relais & Châteaux property in North America and a Forbes Five-Star luxury retreat on Upper Saranac Lake in New York's Adirondacks. y the Rockefellers; our residents are more guests in our home rather than at a hotel. The Point is the first Relais & Chateaux established in North America and a Forbes 5 Star resort located in the heart of the Adirondacks on Upper Saranac Lake. There are group activities available such as boat outings on Upper Saranac Lake in our 33' classic mahogany Hacker-Craft, sunset cocktail cruises in our 32' ELCO electric launch, and water skiing and group hikes on our two trails or guests can, of course, take our smaller inboards and outboards, canoes and kayaks and on their own little adventure, maybe to a small island for a picnic or spend the day playing tennis, croquet, horseshoes, badminton, and swimming in the lake in the summer. In the winter there are group cross country skiing and snowshoe excursions across the lake, ice hockey games, hiking, sledding and ice fishing or perhaps curl up with a good book or a Stave puzzle and a glass of w**e in front of a cozy fire. In the evenings our guests dine together around two dining tables, hosted by the General Manager or his assistant, and enjoy great food, w**e and conversation. While there are no menus at The Point and every night our Maître d’Hôtel pairs the perfect w**e with each gourmet course, we do always pay special consideration to our guests’ preferences. In keeping with the Great Camp tradition, guests dress for dinner and Wednesday and Saturday nights are a 7-course black tie affair. As always, The Point can suit the needs and desires of all its guests and a more intimate evening can always be arranged. Should guests request a private dining experience, their menu too will be followed course by course, as though it were being served in the Great Hall.
