Businesses can face costs of around $35,000 to sponsor an overseas skilled worker, with visa processing times stretching to 12 months. These delays risk pushing skilled workers towards other countries, including New Zealand, the UK and Canada, leaving Australian businesses struggling to fill critical roles.
Regional and remote Australia also face unique challenges. Working holiday makers are a valuable part of the workforce, travelling to areas where seasonal workers are needed across agriculture, hospitality and accommodation.
