Jabulani Safari

Jabulani Safari A soulful safari, refined in luxury. Home to one of the region's most remarkable rescued elephant herds. Jabulani is not your usual safari lodge.
(567)

Set within a Big 5 private game reserve in the Greater Kruger area, Jabulani Safari is a Relais & Châteaux member and recipient of 2 MICHELIN Keys. Set within a Big Five private game reserve in the Greater Kruger Park of South Africa, Jabulani’s six suites, two-bedroom Villa Somopane, and three-bedroom Zindoga Villa ensure a soulful, personalised and intimate stay. It has a story that has inspired

the world. Jabulani was built to help look after a herd of rescued elephants more than twenty years ago, and has led to the establishment, by Adine Roode, of South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, alongside the elephant homestead, called HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation & Development). Today the Relais & Châteaux Jabulani lodge is a special marriage of conservation and hospitality, a place to meet magnificent wildlife, rest deeply, wine and dine under open skies, enjoy sundowners with elephants, and soulfully reconnect with nature and yourself. Each spacious suite is discrete, luxurious and complimented by both a private deck and plunge pool. Guests have the opportunity to learn about the elephant herd, spend time with the devoted elephant carers and hear their insightful stories about their life journeys with these incredible animals, as well as watch the elephants during their midday swims or while they forage in the wilderness. As our guest, you play a crucial role in helping us and HERD to support the rescued herd and orphans, and protect their future. Your elephant levy helps us to sustain these remarkable animals. There are also plenty of other experiences to be had, such as game drives, walking safaris, bird-watching, exploring the little creatures, helicopter flights, hot air balloon rides, and spending time at our onsite facilities, such as our luxury bush spa. Jabulani offers a one-of-a-kind, all-inclusive dining experience. We don’t just believe in constantly innovating with the freshest ingredients, but also in switching up our locations. Enjoy fine cuisine in the best setting, from breakfast bush picnics and sundowner canapés, to star-lit private dinners or gatherings in the boma. Our JabuJuniors programme introduces children to a wildlife wonderland to experience a host of exciting activities, whilst learning about Africa’s diverse wildlife.

We are surrounded by bush. But our responsibility does not end where the reserve does.

This World Oceans Day, we are proud to share something that has quietly changed the way our kitchen thinks about what it puts on the plate. A new seafood supplier. A South African initiative connecting chefs with responsibly harvested fish from small-scale coastal communities, where every catch is traceable, every meal carries a name, a place, and a purpose.

At Jabulani, we have always believed that true luxury is found in what is considered. In the questions asked before a dish is served, not just in the way it arrives at the table.

This is one of those stories.

Lessons From Nature | The Jabulani Team 🌿

The people of Jabulani may have different roles, but they all share one thing in common: a deep connection to the natural world around them.

This World Environment Day, Nathan, Jeffrey, Henlu, Shantal, and Ruan share what nature has taught them throughout their lives, along with one simple action they take to help protect the environment.

Sometimes the biggest changes begin with the smallest habits.

Happy World Environment Day 🌍🌿

The bush has felt a little different lately ✨

Then suddenly, tiny paws appeared behind a resting lioness, one cub climbing over her, another close behind, until the entire scene became a tumble of tails, oversized paws, and playful chaos.

After some time without seeing young cubs, this sighting felt especially special. A new generation beginning to explore the world, while mom patiently accepts that resting is no longer really an option.

The beauty of breakfast is that it can be whatever you want it to be.

Something sweet, something savoury, or a little of both. A slow start before a morning game drive, or an extra cup of coffee simply because there is nowhere else you need to be.

At Jabulani, mornings are made to be enjoyed your way.

This year, Kruger National Park marks 100 years of protected wilderness.

For Jabulani, rooted in the Greater Kruger region, this milestone feels deeply meaningful. Our story has always been shaped by this landscape, its wildlife, its rhythms and the elephants who continue to remind us why conservation matters.

As we honour a century of Kruger, we celebrate more than a national park. We celebrate a living wilderness, a conservation legacy and a future we all share a responsibility to protect.

If there is one animal you are almost guaranteed to see on safari at Jabulani, it is the tallest one in the world.

Giraffes move through the reserve with a kind of effortless calm, often appearing above the treeline long before the rest of the body comes into view. Despite their height, there is something incredibly graceful about them, especially at the waterhole, where even the simple act of drinking requires complete vulnerability.

Over a month ago, we stepped into something new. Or rather, we stepped into something we already were, just seen a little more clearly.

Our General Manager, Ruan, has written something worth reading. Not a press release, not a milestone announcement. Just an honest reflection on where Jabulani has come from, what this past month has meant, and a subtle hint at what is coming next.

The bush shirt still wins most days. But the story keeps growing.

Some people become part of a place in a way that cannot be taught.

When an old photo of Obert and Shadrack from 2011 resurfaced, we decided to recreate it all these years later in the very same spot at Jabulani. What followed became a reflection on time, loyalty, and the people who shape the guest experience in ways that are often unseen, but always felt.

For a moment, it looked like the bush had invented a new kind of rhino.

Two perfectly aligned at the waterhole, creating the illusion of one very unusual animal with three horns. Nature always has a way of surprising you, especially when you least expect it.
