Built for speed, but there’s more to a cheetah than the chase. 🐆

Cheetahs spend much of their time watching, listening and carefully reading their surroundings before making their next move. In the bush, patience can be just as important as speed.

A sighting that always deserves a second look. 👀

Ever wondered why lions see so well after dark? 🦁👀

Behind a lion’s retina is a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum, which reflects light back through the eye and helps improve vision in low light.

It’s one of the adaptations that gives lions an advantage when they’re most active, particularly from dusk through the night.

Eight eyes and a built in safety rope. 👀🕷️

Jumping spiders don’t rely on webs to catch their prey. They actively hunt, using their excellent vision to track movement before making an impressive leap. Many even attach a silk safety line before jumping, just in case!

Small, clever and easy to overlook.

What if we told you one of Africa’s most successful hunters isn’t a lion? 👀

African wild dogs are incredible team players. They live, hunt and raise their pups as a pack, relying on cooperation and communication every step of the way. Even sick or injured members can be cared for by the group.

But despite their remarkable survival skills, African wild dogs are endangered, making every remaining wild population incredibly important.

This African Wild Dog Day, we’re celebrating the teamwork, resilience and wild spirit of one of Africa’s most remarkable predators. 🧡

Have you ever been lucky enough to see African wild dogs in the wild?

Ever wondered why hippos spend most of the day in water?

It’s not just because they enjoy a swim. Water helps hippos stay cool under the African sun and protects their sensitive skin from drying out.

Once temperatures drop, they usually leave the water to graze, revealing a completely different side to their daily routine.

Another fascinating example of how wildlife is perfectly adapted to life in the bush.

You could easily look straight past this little bushveld resident. 👀🌿

The Acacia Katydid, also known as the Zebra Katydid, uses its green and patterned appearance to blend into the leaves, branches and shifting light of its surroundings.

Its camouflage is an important defence against predators, proving once again that survival in the bush isn’t always about being the biggest or strongest. Sometimes, it’s about not being seen at all.

Have you seen an Acacia Katydid before? 👀 👀

Ever wondered what the bush would look like without bees? 🐝

These tiny pollinators help keep plants flowering, trees reproducing and ecosystems thriving. Their work may happen quietly, but its impact can be seen everywhere.

This World Honey Bee Day, we’re giving a little appreciation to one of nature’s hardest working teams. Small wings, very important job.
