A waterbuck fell prey to the River pride lionesses!

There is a myth that lions don't hunt waterbuck due to the pungent oil that is secreted into their fur. However, there is no place for fussy predators in the wild - as this latest sighting shows.

With new cubs in the area, this meal is especially important to the pride right now. What a fantastic sighting for our guests!

How stunning is this photo of two African hoopoes by recent guest Nicolas Marin - LA VIDA EN ANTARTIDA 🧊 😍

These colourful birds have long, thin bills that they use to probe for worms and small invertebrates in the ground. However, one of their most striking features has to be the large crest on the top of their heads - like a brilliant, orange crown 👑

After a recent incursion by makes from the East, we feared the pom pom males' time was up before they had a chance to make their mark here in central Klaserie...

However, we are pleased to see they have returned - and have even gathered a new litter of cubs currently hiding below Klaserie Drift Misava 😍

With their unenviable track record, having yet to have any offspring reach their first year, we can only hope that this is the moment the tides will turn 🙏

Lion cubs typically have about a 33% chance of survival in the wild - with disease, starvation, and other predators (including rival lions) being some of the main causes of death. Let's hope the odds are in their favour this time 🫣

🎅🎁 SANTA SHOEBOX DAY 🙌🥳

One of our favourite initiatives! Each year we sponsor a drop-in centre for vulnerable children connected to local community nonprofit, Seeds of Light - and this year that meant 159 special backpacks of joy!

Each backpack is filled with essential toiletries, school supplies, sweets, a toy, and a new outfit - so every child feels special and loved this festive season! For many, it may be their only gift.

As always, our staff rose to the challenge and helped us pack and check every bag - and we couldn't be more proud of their endless enthusiasm and smiles 💚

Thank you to our amazing team, and to our wonderful guests - without whom none of this would be possible. 159 smiles loading this Christmas 🥰🌸
