This Page is for anyone and everyone! Our past guests, future guests and people that are just interested to see what KwaMbili is all about. Here is where we post about what is happening around the lodge and on game drives. We also share some beautiful photographs to help tell our story better. For those of you who haven't yet experienced KwaMbili Game Lodge, in three simple phrases, it’s an intimate, informal and ultimately a beautiful African experience. We want for you to relax and enjoy the luxuries in camp and let us share with you the wonder of the African bush. We focus on giving you a very personal experience of the bush and its wildlife by limiting the number of guests to 10 at a time. That way, you get exceptional flexibility and personal attention. You might think two game drives a day simply means twice the chance of seeing an animal.

But there's another reason we love having both a morning and an afternoon/evening drive.

Because the bush changes.

The early morning has its own rhythm. The air is cooler, the day is just beginning and the landscape feels fresh and full of possibility.

Come back later and it's a different world. The light softens, temperatures drop and animals that have been keeping out of the heat begin to stir.

Then the sun starts to disappear.

And suddenly you're experiencing the bush in a completely different way.

Two drives aren't just two opportunities to look for wildlife.

They're two opportunities to experience the wilderness at different moments of the day.

The bush doesn't wait for anyone.
It changes constantly, often so gradually that you don't notice it happening until suddenly the landscape feels different.

As the warmer months arrive, the vegetation begins to respond. New growth appears, the landscape takes on a different character and the rhythm of the animals changes along with it.

There is more movement. More activity. More signs that the summer rains are on their way.

It's one of the reasons we love spending time in the Lowveld.

Come back in another season and you may feel like you're seeing a completely different place.

Same bush. Different story.

December has a habit of sneaking up on us.

One minute you're thinking, “There's still plenty of time.”
And suddenly you're wondering where the year went and whether you've actually planned that much-needed escape.

As the temperatures rise, there's one place that's likely to become increasingly popular…the waterhole!

It's amazing how quickly a quiet stretch of water can become the place to be. An animal arrives for a drink, another follows and before long there's a whole little drama unfolding in front of you.

You never quite know who might turn up.
Which, frankly, is half the fun.

It's World Boss's Day, so naturally we have an important question…
Who is actually in charge out here?

The lion certainly looks like it has the job description down. But then an elephant walks past and suddenly we're reconsidering the hierarchy.

The truth is, the bush doesn't really have a boss. It's a wonderfully complicated system where every species has its own way of surviving, competing and co-existing.

Still, we're curious.

From the delicate dance of a butterfly to a bird securing its next meal, the bush is a beautiful reminder that every moment has a purpose.

You just have to slow down long enough to see it. 🦋

Small camp. Big difference. ❤️

There's something about being somewhere small.
The pace feels different. Conversations last a little longer. You get to know the people around you. There's space to sit quietly and simply take in where you are.

And then there's the bush itself, carrying on all around you.

At KwaMbili, we're proud of being an intimate camp. Because sometimes the magic of safari isn't about how much you can fit into a place.

It's about how much you can take in when there's less getting in the way.

Small camp. Big experiences.

Some people need a little time to wake up in the morning. Tim? Give him a 04:30 coffee, a dark sky and the sounds of the bush and he’s exactly where he wants to be.

As one of KwaMbili’s guides, Tim knows that some of the most magical safari moments happen before the sun has even thought about rising. That quiet time with a coffee in hand, listening to the bush come alive before heading out on game drive, is one of his favourite parts of the day.

And when it comes to favourite animals, the spotted hyena takes the prize! Especially when there are busy little babies involved. Because if there's one thing that makes a sighting even better, it's watching the next generation of wild residents getting up to mischief.

Tim is a wonderful reminder that safari isn't just about what you see. It's about what you hear, what you feel and the stories unfolding all around you.
