KwaMbili Game Lodge

KwaMbili Game Lodge A small scale, family-owned, affordable safari lodge in the big five Thornybush Nature Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger. Avuxeni!! Inkhomo!

(Hello in our local language shangaan)

This Page is for anyone and everyone! Our past guests, future guests and people that are just interested to see what KwaMbili is all about. Here is where we post about what is happening around the lodge and on game drives. We also share some beautiful photographs to help tell our story better. It is a place for our guests to post about their stay, and add photographs of what they've experienced with us. All should feel free to comment, like or even ask questions about anything they see that interests them. For those of you who haven't yet experienced KwaMbili Game Lodge, in three simple phrases, it’s an intimate, informal and ultimately a beautiful African experience. We want for you to relax and enjoy the luxuries in camp and let us share with you the wonder of the African bush. We focus on giving you a very personal experience of the bush and its wildlife by limiting the number of guests to 10 at a time. That way, you get exceptional flexibility and personal attention. We hope that you will enjoy our page!! (Thank you in our local language Shangaan)

“The quality of the game drives… had the highest standard.”

When guests have experienced more than 140 safaris across Africa, their words carry a little extra weight.

They summed up their KwaMbili experience simply:
“All in all a place to be recommended. We will come back for sure.” 🌿

Thank you for choosing KwaMbili!

There’s coffee… and then there’s a Ranger’s Coffee.

Served during the morning game drive stop, this bushveld favourite combines a steaming cup of coffee with a generous splash of Amarula.

Because after a morning of tracking, spotting and exploring the bush, you’ve definitely earned it.

Coffee with a little safari spirit. 😉

Meet Solly 👋🏾
Keeping KwaMbili running smoothly behind the scenes is Solly, who takes care of all the maintenance around the lodge.

And while there’s plenty to keep him busy, his favourite part of the day is looking after the swimming pool — with a little bonus that comes with the job: checking out the animals visiting the waterhole.

His favourite bush animal? No surprise there…The lion. 🦁

You spot the animal.
You grab your camera.
You carefully frame the perfect shot…
…and they turn around.

Every. Single. Time. 😂

Welcome to Bums of the Bush — celebrating those safari photographs where the animals decided their best angle was, well… the other one.

Hello, Spring, we’ve been waiting for you 🌿

As the seasons change, so does the bush.

The days begin to warm up, the landscape slowly starts to turn green and the first rains bring fresh life back to the bushveld.

Over the coming months, everything begins to feel a little more alive — from the trees and grasses to the animals that call this place home.

A new season is on its way, and we can't wait to watch the bush transform. 🌱

Fast, intelligent and highly social, African wild dogs are one of the continent's most remarkable predators.

Sadly, they're also one of Africa's most endangered mammals, making every sighting an incredibly special privilege.

On World African Wild Dog Day, we celebrate these extraordinary animals and the importance of protecting the wild places they call home.

Everyone has heard of the Big Five... but have you met the Small Five?

Made up of the Ant Lion, Elephant Shrew, Buffalo Weaver, Leopard Tortoise and Rhino Beetle, these fascinating little creatures were named after their larger counterparts. Spotting them takes a keen eye, making every sighting feel like its own special safari achievement.
