On the open ground, where you’d least expect it, lie the perfectly camouflaged eggs of the three-banded plover. Blending seamlessly with stones and sand, they are nature’s masterclass in disguise.

With no nest to give them away, these tiny treasures rely entirely on their colouring to stay safe from watchful predators. Even when you’re looking right at them… You might still miss them.
