Not quite the luxury spa treatment you might imagine, but highly effective nonetheless.

Elephants use dust baths to help protect their skin from the sun, keep insects at bay, and cool themselves down during warmer parts of the day. Watching several tonnes of elephant enthusiastically throw dirt over themselves is also one of the more entertaining sights on safari.

Sometimes the best moments in the bush are the messiest ones!

Repairs are done on the Pegasus Bridge after the damage caused by the floods. It is officially open today, on Saturday, 6 June. A very poignant day for those who know their history!

Welcome to June in the Greater Makalali!

The dry season has begun to settle over the reserve, bringing crisp early mornings, clear blue skies and cooler evenings around the fire. As the bush starts to thin out, wildlife sightings become more rewarding, with animals moving more predictably between water sources and open areas.

This is the start of the classic safari season, where golden winter light, dust trails and quiet bush mornings shape our days.
